Why do we believe that our fund
management process is right for
our clients?

Our Investment Process

Med-Ex has a structured, client-focused,
risk controlled approach to portfolio
management.  Our investment process
starts with understanding the individual
needs of our clients.  Key to this is identifying
a client’s financial objectives, risk profile and
investment time horizons.  Our aim is to construct
a balanced, well-diversified portfolio in order to
achieve the highest level of return within your risk profile.

Our investment process has 3 stages:

Planning:

  • Identify and prioritise client objectives
  • Evaluate existing financial arrangements and investments
  • Identify client’s attitude to risk
  • Identify investment time horizons
  • Identify income and liquidity requirements
  • Identify client’s tax situation

Implementation:

  • Asset allocation
  • Investment selection

Review:

  • Monitor investment performance against client objectives through regular review
  • Review client needs and circumstances on a regular basis
  • Rebalance portfolio as necessary

Risk Tolerance and Asset Allocation

Fundamental to our approach to portfolio management is a structured asset allocation process.  This starts with a personal risk tolerance analysis.  The outcome will enable us to determine the optimal asset allocation for your risk profile, with the aim of maximising long-term performance while minimising risk.  In order to achieve this we have constructed a series of model portfolios with a range of risk/return profiles.

Investment Selection and Portfolio Construction

Our investment process uses collective funds, not direct equities.  Med-Ex maintains a list of carefully selected and analysed funds, which is reviewed regularly.  We believe that diversification is fundamental to portfolio construction, and aim to ensure that your portfolio is not over-exposed to any individual stock, geographic or sectoral area.
Because portfolios are individually tailored to our clients, no two are exactly the same.  However, two sample model portfolios are shown below, a Balanced Portfolio, tailored to a medium-risk client, and a Speculative Portfolio, for a high-risk client, together with charts showing how these two specific portfolios, with £60k invested in February, have performed since they were invested.  Please note that these are simply provided as sample portfolios, and that funds, geographic/sector allocations and charges will vary.
